The Food Safety Modernization Act, also known as FSMA, may at times feel cumbersome or confusing. To make it simpler, the FDA developed the Technical Assistance Network (TAN), a central area for questions related to FSMA. TAN recently shared a list of common questions received by their staff. The questions cover a broad range of topics, and you may find the provided answers to be helpful. Click on this link to read the full list of questions and answers.

In addition to the FSMA TAN questions, the FDA has compiled a list of frequently asked questions on FSMA, with a section specifically devoted to the Produce Safety Rule. The list of those questions may be found here. Examples of questions about the Produce Safety Rule include:

• What are the key requirements and compliance dates?
• What produce is covered by this rule, and what produce is not covered?
• Is extra time allowed for smaller farms to come into compliance with the requirements?

While the questions and answers provided on the website encompass many aspects of FSMA, you may still have unanswered questions after reading through this website in its entirety. If this is the case, you may submit your own questions to TAN online at this link, or by mailing your question in writing to the following address:
