The Franklin County PumpkinFest in Turners Falls has grown over the last 10 years to become a signature event leading up to Halloween for those in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts. Roughly 10,000 residents turn up on Avenue A to see the lit-up jack-o-lanterns and the costumes.

This year, New England Farmers Union is proud to have a presence at the event, and to be teaming up with the West Gill Barbecue Company to sell delicious local food, sourced directly from our member farms.

Visitors who stop by the Farmers Union tent on Oct. 24 from 2 to 9 p.m. will be able to purchase freshly smoked pulled pork tacos with Mexican slaw, and pork-stuffed baked potatoes, with options including cheese sauce, butter, and sour cream—all made with ingredients sourced from our local farm members. Those farms we’ve already signed up to participate include:

On the Farmers Union side of the tent, we will be raffling off two $50 gift certificates to member Diemand Farm of Wendell. The farm store has everything to set the Thanksgiving table, from the free-range local turkeys to pies and all the trimmings.

Raffle tickets cost $10 and include a discounted membership in New England Farmers Union, so by entering the raffle, you are supporting the work we do to enhance the viability of family farms in New England. Current members are entitled to a free raffle ticket. Hope to see you there, if you’re a local!
